The 'box' was made from a $20 plastic storage bin. I sandwiched one end of the bin between two pieces of 3/8" plywood using wood screws to fasten each corner of the two piece of wood to each other. The top plate that came with the PA speaker stand is also screwed to the bottom piece of plywood.
The foam is from Markertek www.markertek.com and cost about $20 a few years ago. I used 3M's Super 77 spray adhesive to attach the foam.
The microphone shock mount is suspended from a desktop microphone stand with an adjustable tube. I just drilled a hole in the bin, inverted the stand and stuck it into the cavity.
Right now I just allow the XLR cable to come out the front of the bin and over to the mixer. I had planned to run the cable down through the tube of the stand but didn't feel like disassembling the cable.
The bin top still fits on the bin so I can keep it clean when I don't need it.
The 'sound box' sits in a corner and out of the way but quite handy when I need to use |
